Lumie Bodyclock ELITE 300 Wake-up Light Clock Review

Are The Multiple Functions Of The Lumie Bodyclock ELITE 300 Wake-up Light Clock Worthwhile?

Lumie Bodyclock ELITE 300 Wake-up Clock
There are many light-based alarms on the market that offer a “natural” light source with the aim of helping people to get up in the morning but the Lumie Bodyclock ELITE 300 Wake-up Light Clock with Helps SAD, Suite of Wake/Sleep Audio features claims to have plenty more tricks up its sleeve.

This class 1 certified medical device has options for both sunrise and sunset, adjustable fade times, seven different alarm settings with pleasant noises, guided sleep meditation tracks and a snooze function.

Although the aim is that buyers will not have to use the last one. Does this multifunctional alarm clock really make users feel “refreshed, alert and energised”, or is it a waste of time?

What advantages does this Lumie Bodyclock ELITE 300 have as a wake up light according to customer testimonials?

One of the main aims of an alarm like this is to help people resume better sleeping patterns and aid seasonal disorders via a gradual, natural light source and the feedback in online reviews suggests that – in the majority of cases – this has all been achieved.

Obviously there will be the odd user that did not feel the effects but, for the most part, buyers have seen great improvements in their mood and there are positive reports from those suffering from SAD.

The gradual increase in light that is advertised is highlighted as a beneficial feature but users are also keen to point out the potential of the flash alarm, which can really help to get people out of bed in the the summer months when the mornings are lighter.

The ‘wake up’ aspect of this Lumie Bodyclock may be the main function but a lot of reviewers are talking about one of the other features and how it is just as beneficial for their health and relaxation. The use of a sunset mode is not unique to this model but it appears to have been used to great effect.

The gradual dimming acts as a great reading light to help lull people to sleep – some buyers even find themselves drifting off before it goes completely dark – and it comes with a range of soothing sleep sounds. The loop of birdsong can be a little repetitive but buyers do enjoy the sound of the lapping waves.

There is also the option to add your own preferred music and sounds via an SD card but, as the following product disadvantages show, this can be problematic.

Why is the Lumie Bodyclock Wake-up Light’s SD card reader an issue and what else have buyers criticised?

While the ability to use an SD card is loved by many, there are others that are frustrated by the device’s inability to read them.

According to Lumie themselves, the Bodyclock ELITE 300 only works with certain, older cards or those with a smaller memory, which isn’t very useful.

This issue with the reader leads into the products biggest downfall – its overly technical nature and the problems this brings. The product description talks about “many advanced features”, and it is great to have so many options, but some buyers suggest keeping the manual by the bed because of the continual need to program preferences and the complexities of doing so.

Elsewhere, the complaints are a lot more minor and can be attributed to personal preferences rather than any real design flaw. There was a complaint that the device looked “old fashioned”, possibly because it is domed, and others felt that the light source was not quite as “sun-like” as they assumed it would be.

Summary: is this Lumie Bodyclock ELITE 300 still a worthwhile purchase despite the technical issues?

The fact that it can take some time to learn how to use this alarm to its full potential, and that it is more complicated than other alarms, may be a bit of a concern to technophobes wanting a simple, one-touch wake-up light.

However, many buyers are in agreement that it is worth taking the time and effort to do so for the results it can bring. The wake-up function appears to work as intended but it is the extra features that make this product stand out, like the sunset mode and flash alarm.

These benefits mean that instead of being just a gadget to bring out for three months and put back in the cupboard once spring arrives, this Lumie wake-up light clock is an all-year product that could really make a difference.
